Before Your Appointment

Thank you for choosing Steeles-Yonge Animal Hospital! Please review the points below in order to best prepare for your appointment:

• For any new clients, we please ask that you show up at least 10 minutes early to your appointment to fill out our registration form and to scan and attach any previous records/medical history to your pet's file.

• If your pet has previously been to another veterinarian, we ask that you bring any medical records/history (if physical) to your appointment, have them sent to our email (dr.k@syah.ca), or have them faxed to us (905-597-8386). This is to ensure that we have a record of your pet's vaccination history, as well as any previous conditions that are important to understanding your pet's needs.

• All pets must either be leashed or brought in a carrier! While your pet may be well-trained, a new environment with other pets, people, and new scents in the same room may cause your pet to become over-excited or stressed. In order to ensure the everyone's safety and prevent any unnecessary mishaps, we ask that you please adhere to this rule until a staff member notes that it is safe to remove your pet from their leash or carrier.

• If you need to cancel your appointment, we would appreciate at least 24-hour notice so that we can accommodate any patients who may urgently need to see a vet.

• Most appointments are scheduled in 30-minute intervals. Typically, appointments like general checkups, vaccinations, and nail trims will not take this long, while other appointments may take longer depending on your pet's issues.

• We will allow for a maximum 15-minute grace period if you happen to run a little late. If you show up any later than 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment, we will consider your appointment as a no-show and ask that you reschedule for another available time if you still wish to have your pet seen. This is to prevent us from running into other clients' scheduled appointments.

• For annual vaccination appointments, we ask that you consider bringing a fresh sample of your pet's stool to your appointment in order to have it tested for any intestinal parasites. While not mandatory, this test is recommended to be done at least once a year. If you are unable to bring the sample to your scheduled appointment, you may opt to prepay for a fecal testing kit, collect the sample at home, and drop off the sample at your convenience.

• We are located in the Steeles Square Plaza at 180 Steeles Avenue West. If you are having trouble figuring out which plaza is the correct one, please look for the Dollarama towards the front of the plaza. Our hospital is Unit #15 of the plaza, which is beside the popular bakery, Chocolada

• We ask that if you plan to make your payment with a debit or credit card, that you bring the physical card with you to your appointment. Unfortunately, our machine is unable to accept payments via tap for the time being. We apologize for the inconvenience.
